At her farewell meeting with RNC staffers, an audibly distressed Ronna McDaniel expressed pride in her tenure as chairwoman but sadness at leaving as former President Trump endorses new leadership for the 2024 election cycle.
Over four to seven years, she said, they faced opposition both outside and within their own party.
Fighting back tears, McDaniel urged the staffers to stand strong during the next election and maintain confidence in the important role of the RNC despite any outside criticism, saying they cannot win without it.
McDaniel said, “We’ve gone through a lot these past four years or seven years.”
“We had everything against this building, especially people in our own side. And that’s the most unfortunate part about it,” she explained.
McDaniel continued, “I’m so proud of what we’ve done. And I’m just so honored to work with all of you. So, I wanted to say thank you.”
She warned, “Do not let anything on the outside deter you from knowing the strength and the importance of this building and what we do and what we’ve got.”
She concluded, “And I’m holding my head high. All of you should hold your head high. We don’t win elections without a strong RNC and anybody who says otherwise is wrong.”
She praised the staffers and said they all have reason to hold their heads high for their efforts.
