New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the city needs to modify its sanctuary city policies to allow local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities on deporting violent criminal illegal aliens.
Mayor Adams said, “We should not be allowing people who are repeatedly committing crimes to remain here and we cannot collaborate with ICE in the process.”
He continued, “Those who are committing crimes, we need to modify the sanctuary city law. If you commit a felony, a violent act, we should be able to turn you over to ICE and have you deported.”

Adams’ remarks come after a group of illegal aliens violently attacked two NYPD officers and were released due to sanctuary laws, then fled the state.
The aliens were later arrested in Arizona by federal authorities.
The Manhattan DA was criticized for letting the attackers go free.
Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said, “I would have assumed that they wouldn’t let illegal immigrants who attack police go, but they did.”
Adams said those committing violent felonies should be deported.
His comments occur as illegal alien crime has surged under President Biden, whose open border policies have led to over 7 million unauthorized crossings, more than the population of many states.
Border enforcement has seen a large increase in criminal illegal alien apprehensions under Biden, fueling concern about the border crisis ahead of the midterm election.
