An illegal immigrant from Venezuela was arrested in Virginia for sexually assaulting a minor. He had been released into the US due to Biden’s immigration policies after entering illegally last year.
The Republican governor called for full prosecution.
“We pray for the victim tonight and thank the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department,” Youngkin said. “Let’s be clear, prosecution must be to the fullest extent of the law.”
Biden is finally visiting the border as his policies have led to over 7 million illegal crossings, though his trip coincides with Trump’s planned visit.
Critics say Biden is insincere and trying to copy Trump for political reasons.
Many believe Biden will blame Republicans despite controlling Congress his first two years.
As the border crisis threatens Biden’s reelection amid disapproval of his handling, the White House claims to want funding for security rejected by Senate Democrats last year.
“Crooked Joe Biden has had three years to visit the border and fix the crisis he created,” said Karoline Leavitt, a Trump spokeswoman. “Now Biden’s handlers are sending him there on the same day as President Trump’s publicly reported trip, not because they actually want to solve the problem, but because they know Biden is losing terribly.”
“He will reiterate his calls for Congressional Republicans to stop playing politics and to provide the funding needed for additional U.S. Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, fentanyl detection technology and more,” a White House official said.
