James Biden denied allegations before the impeachment inquiry that President Joe Biden had any involvement in or profited from his business ventures.
He claimed money Joe Biden received from a bankrupt company was repayment of a personal loan.
“1. I have had a 50-year career in a variety of business ventures. Joe Biden has never had any involvement or any direct or indirect financial interest in those activities. None,” James wrote.

“2. Because of my intimate knowledge of my brother’s personal integrity and character, as well as my own strong ethics, I have always kept my professional life separate from our close personal relationship.”
“3. I never asked my brother to take any official action on behalf of me, my business associates, or anyone else,” he wrote.
However, the White House refused requests for documentation of the alleged loan.
Separately, the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed two of James Biden’s companies related to nearly $10 million received by Joe Biden’s corporation in 2017 without specifying its purpose.
James and Hunter Biden had also previously been business partners with a Chinese energy company linked to the Chinese Communist Party, and a Biden associate received $3 million from this company, with $1.3 million then transferred to Hunter, James and others.
James Biden maintained separation between his business affairs and relationship with Joe Biden.
