Hollywood box office receipts continued to decline sharply in February 2022, down 32% from the same weekend last year.

Total box office for all movies was just $64 million, with the only real hit being the Bob Marley biopic One Love.

Other top performers included the anime film Demon Slayer.

Notable flops included Madame Web, with a 64% drop in its second weekend, and Drive Away Dolls, an LGBTQ road trip comedy that opened on over 2,000 screens but earned a disappointing $2.5 million.

Year-to-date box office is down 21% from 2021 and 45% from pre-pandemic 2020 levels, indicating audience disinterest in current Hollywood offerings rather than external factors like the pandemic.

The only film performing close to expectations was the Christian drama Ordinary Angels starring Hilary Swank.
