A new poll shows former Maryland governor Larry Hogan leading both top Democratic Senate candidates, Congressman David Trone and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, by double digits in hypothetical matchups.
Hogan led Trone 49%-33% and led Alsobrooks 52%-29%.
However, the pollster cautioned it expects a tough race given Maryland’s strong Democratic lean, Biden’s large 2020 margin of victory there, and expectations that Trone will massively outspend as a self-funded billionaire.

Hogan has stronger name recognition than the Democrats and much more favorable ratings.
Still, his entrance in the race improves Republican chances of flipping the Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Ben Cardin in the very blue state of Maryland.
