Comedian Tiffany Haddish announced plans on Instagram Live to take an educational trip to Israel to learn more firsthand about the ongoing conflict, and “to have some fun.”

While saying she wanted to see things with her own eyes in places like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and ask questions about “why is this happening?”, her intentions sparked mixed reactions.

“I said I’m going to go see with my own eyes. Gotta go to Israel first,” she said.

“This is an educational trip for me. See, I feel like I can’t believe I see everything on the Internet… I need to go see for myself, I’m one of those people.”

Some supporters, like Israeli actress Noa Tishby, welcomed the trip, but pro-Palestinian users criticized it, noting Gaza’s destruction and calling it a “genocide.”

“I’m gonna go see for myself, I’m gonna go see, I’m gonna go see all of it, I’m gonna ask questions – see with my own eyes,” Haddish said. “I’m gonna go talk to people, I’m gonna go find out why is this happening? Why is this going down?”

Haddish, who discovered her Jewish heritage years ago and had a bat mitzvah at 40, stirred debate with her revealed plans to visit the war-torn region for a potentially lighthearted “fun” trip.
