The documentary “God & Country,” produced by Rob Reiner, criticizes Christians for supporting former President Trump.
Reiner blames Christian Nationalists for Trump’s rise and the Jan. 6 riots, while ignoring violence from the Left.
“This movement that they have here seems completely antithetical to the teachings of Jesus. Jesus was about peace and love and helping thy neighbor and those less fortunate than ourselves. And I thought that was something that we should all aspire to. So to me this movement is going totally opposite the teachings of Jesus,” Reiner said.
“The Christian nationalist movement, it says that it’s my way or the highway and will resort to violence if we don’t get our way, which is what we saw happening on January 6.”
Reiner praises President Biden and condemns Trump as the leader of the Christian Nationalist movement.
“The Christian nationalist believe that there is no separation of church and state. And their idea is to have a white Christian nation. That’s what they’re looking for, and that’s the thing that galvanizes all of the activity,” Reiner said.
Reiner’s career has declined in recent years, with his latest projects failing to succeed.
“God & Country” serves as a platform for Reiner to express his anti-Trump sentiments and criticize people of faith.
