Republicans removed references to a discredited FBI informant from an impeachment inquiry letter to a potential witness.

The informant had falsely claimed that a Ukrainian gas executive said he bribed Joe and Hunter Biden $5 million each to protect Burisma from problems.

This supported GOP allegations that Joe Biden pushed for a Ukrainian prosecutor’s firing to help Burisma and Hunter.

However, the Justice Department said the informant fabricated the story.

Republicans had cited the “highly credible” informant in prior inquiry letters, but removed that language from a letter to Amos Hochstein after the informant was discredited.

They plan to continue the inquiry by interviewing James Biden this week and deposing Hunter Biden next week, though it’s unclear if impeachment articles against Joe Biden will receive a House vote.
