President Biden called on Congress to cut its recess short and pass a major foreign aid package while vacationing in Delaware over the weekend.

The $95.8 billion package includes $60 billion for Ukraine, as well as billions for Israel and Taiwan, though none are NATO members as Biden claimed.

Biden said, “The idea that we’re going to walk away from Ukraine, the idea that we’re going to let NATO begin to split, is totally against the interests of the United States of America and it is against our word we’ve given since all the way back to Eisenhower,” Biden told reporters.

“So it’s about time we make sure that Congress come home and pass the legislation funding NATO. It’s critical,” he continued.

House Republicans want border security addressed first given record illegal immigration.

A Senate deal allowing thousands of green cards and asylum lawyers was rejected.

Biden has refused to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson to negotiate including border fixes, with the White House saying the issue has already been addressed.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre asked, “What is there to negotiate, truly?”

Adding, “What is the one-on-one negotiation about when he’s been presented with exactly what he asked for?”

“So, he’s negotiating with himself [and] he’s killing bills on his own,” concluded Biden’s Press Secretary.

Johnson argues there are serious problems needing presidential discussion.

Speaker Johnson said, “I am going to continue to insist on that because there are very serious issues that need to be addressed and if the speaker of the House cannot meet with the president of the United States, that’s a problem.”

“I don’t know why they’re uncomfortable having the president sit across the table from me, but I will go in good faith,” he continued.

The package remains stalled as Democrats and Republicans disagree on associated immigration policy demands.
