The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it destroyed two large weapon depots belonging to the Iranian-backed Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah.

The airstrikes occurred near Sidon in southern Lebanon, about 30 miles from Israel.

The IDF said this was in response to an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel, likely by Hezbollah.

“IDF fighter jets struck two Hezbollah weapons storage facilities adjacent to the city of Sidon in Lebanon,” the IDF stated. “The strike was carried out in response to the launch of a UAV toward the Lower Galilee in northern Israel.”

“An examination of the incident suggests that the UAV was most likely launched from Lebanon by the Hezbollah terrorist organization earlier today,” the statement added. “The incident is under review. Furthermore, over the last few hours, IDF fighter jets struck Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in the areas of Meiss El Jabal and al-Adisa in Lebanon.”

Further strikes hit Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon.

Hezbollah receives around $1 billion annually from Iran, and is considered the most powerful terrorist organization globally with over 20,000 full-time fighters and tens of thousands more reserves.

The group possesses a vast arsenal including missiles, rockets, drones and precision guided missiles provided by Iran.
