Dmitry Medvedev, a top ally of Putin, warned the West against seeking a Ukrainian victory, threatening nuclear strikes on Western capitals and a civil war in Russia with millions dead.
He asserted that any attempt to push Russia back to its 1991 borders would result in a global war with the West.
“Attempts to return Russia to the borders of 1991 will lead to only one thing. To a global war with Western countries using the entire strategic arsenal of our state. In Kiev, Berlin, London, Washington,” Medvedev said.

Medvedev also warned of the destruction of historical sites and the collapse of Russia if Western-backed Ukraine regains its territory.
“The direct and irreversible collapse of present-day Russia… a violent civil war with the final disappearance of our country from the world map. Tens of millions of victims. The death of our future. The collapse of everything in the world,” he warned.
Despite such threats, he expressed confidence in Russia’s military power and the imminent victory of their military operation in Ukraine.
