A manhunt is underway in Tennessee for Kenneth Wayne DeHart, 42, following a deadly traffic stop where a sheriff’s deputy was killed and another injured.

The deceased deputy was identified as Greg McCowan, while the injured deputy, Shelby Eggers, is recovering at home.

“We’re going to get this man off the streets of east Tennessee and put him behind bars,” Blount County Sheriff James Berrong said.

Authorities have issued warrants for DeHart’s arrest, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and felon in possession of a firearm.

DeHart, considered armed and dangerous, has been added to the state’s Most Wanted list, with rewards offered for information leading to his arrest.

“Thank you for the support and prayers for Deputy McCowan’s family and for Deputy Eggers’ continued recovery,” he said.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is aiding in the search, and tips on DeHart’s whereabouts can be reported to the authorities.

The community and law enforcement are working together to bring the suspect to justice.
