Donald Trump claimed that people cry and express gratitude when they see him, citing examples of “tough guys” breaking down in tears and thanking him for various reasons.
This recurring assertion has drawn skepticism from his critics, given the lack of evidence supporting these emotional reactions.
“I have steel people that every time they see me, they start to cry,” Trump said. “They hug me. They said, ‘You saved our industry.’”
Weird how all these weep-on-sight-of-Trump steelworkers, Marines, cops, and other tough guys are never captured on video openly crying “every time” they see Trump. https://t.co/WP1rj2Tgat

“I don’t think he cried in his life, and I don’t think he cried when he was a baby,” Trump said of one man. “He was crying. He said, ‘Sir, you give me back my life and my property.’”
“Tough people, strong, tough men and women, half of them were crying,” he said of other attendees.
