A school district in the San Francisco Bay Area paid $250,000 to an organization called “Woke Kindergarten” to address declining test scores and student attendance, with a focus on confronting white supremacy and racism.
However, after two years of the program, student achievement at the school has fallen, leading to questions about the effectiveness of the expenditure, particularly for low-income and English learner students.
While district officials defended the program, citing improvements in attendance and suspension rates, it was revealed that the school remained on the state watch list and had dropped to a lower level.
The State of California’s ethnic studies curriculum requirement has faced criticism for allegedly introducing antisemitism into the classroom.
