An Israeli court in Tel Aviv ruled that LGBTQ+ Palestinians in danger due to their sexual orientation can seek asylum in Israel, as their lives may be at risk under Palestinian rule.

The ruling stemmed from a case where a Palestinian sought refuge in Israel after facing threats and violence due to his sexual identity.

While the issue remains legally complex, with the involvement of UNRWA and political implications, Israel is seen as the only safe haven for openly LGBTQ+ individuals in the Middle East.

The ruling has sparked debate, particularly regarding the support of LGBTQ+ groups for a national movement that opposes their existence, as highlighted by legal scholar Alan Dershowitz.
