House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, (R-OH), has subpoenaed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in an attempt to obtain documents from her office.
This move comes as a response to the indictment of former President Donald Trump and 18 others for allegedly attempting to influence the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
Jordan’s pursuit involves citing an alleged whistleblower’s claims about the misuse of federal grants in Willis’ office.
His action is seen as part of a broader pattern of House Republicans investigating those who are investigating Trump, with a focus on discrediting the case against Trump rather than addressing the allegations directly.
The attempt to legitimize the GOP’s requests through legislative concerns has been met with skepticism, given Jordan’s lack of legislative action in this regard.
