Joe Biden Takes Executive Action to Tighten Gun Control Measures

via WION

President Joe Biden has announced executive action aimed at promoting safer gun storage, as part of efforts to reduce gun violence.

The White House emphasizes that secure firearm storage can help prevent school shootings, youth suicides, accidental shootings, and firearm theft.

The White House wrote in a statement that Biden’s actions are meant to “promote safe storage of firearms that implement President Biden’s Executive Order on promoting safe gun storage in order to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer.”

The Department of Justice will publish a guide on firearm storage, and the Department of Education will encourage discussions on this topic among parents and school communities.

The Department of Education will also reportedly provide guidance and training that “principals and school leaders can use to engage with parents and families about the importance of safe firearm storage and encourage more people to take preventive action by safely storing firearms.”
