A U.S. Border Patrol agent was attacked by suspected human smugglers in Arizona while arresting illegal immigrants.
The incident occurred near San Luis, Arizona, and the agent sustained injuries.
Attacks on border agents have increased recently, with two Mexican citizens pleading guilty to assaulting an agent last summer and another agent being attacked in Texas in September.

The Biden administration’s handling of the border has faced criticism, with Texas taking independent action to police the border, leading to legal battles with the federal government.
“The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting states, including immigration laws on the books right now,” Gov. Greg Abbott said. “President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them.”
Florida’s Governor has expressed support for Texas in the matter.
“If the Constitution really made states powerless to defend themselves against an invasion, it wouldn’t have been ratified in the first place and Texas would have never joined the union when it did,” Gov. Ron DeSantis wrote on X.
“TX is upholding the law while Biden is flouting it. FL will keep assisting Texas with personnel and assets,” he wrote.
