Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH), an Iranian proxy terrorist organization in Iraq, has threatened to launch “painful” terrorist attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq in support of Hamas.

KH is part of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), formally under the Iraqi armed forces.

The group, once powerful, lost influence after the death of its leader and the subsequent U.S. airstrikes.

Under President Biden, KH and the IRGC have regrouped, targeting American troops, prompting U.S. airstrikes.

KH wrote in a statement, “Iraq’s resistance will keep supporting Gaza and the Israeli-occupied Palestine while conducting painful attacks on US occupation forces until they are driven out of Iraq and the region.”

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the strikes were targeting “KH headquarters, storage, and training locations for rocket, missile, and one-way attack UAV capabilities.”

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said, “We do not seek to escalate conflict in the region. We are fully prepared to take further measures to protect our people and our facilities. We call on these groups and their Iranian sponsors to immediately cease these attacks.”

There have been escalating attacks on U.S. forces, leading to Biden’s order for new airstrikes on KH.

Biden has reportedly initiated talks with the Iraqi government for the withdrawal of American military forces from Iraq.
