Rep. Virginia Foxx, chairwoman of the Education and the Workforce Committee, has criticized Harvard University for inadequate cooperation with the investigation into anti-Semitism on campuses.
Foxx warned that subpoenas could follow if Harvard does not meet the committee’s demands for documents.
The investigation also includes MIT and the University of Pennsylvania, aiming to scrutinize the learning environments and policies related to anti-Semitic incidents.
“Rather than answering the Committee’s request in a substantive manner, Harvard has chosen to provide letters from nonprofits and student handbooks, many of which are already publicly available. This is unacceptable,” Foxx said.
This comes in the wake of reports of anti-Semitic graffiti on Harvard’s campus and the universities’ presidents’ responses to questions about calling for the genocide of Jews on campuses.
“Harvard must produce the remaining documents in a timely manner, or risk compulsory measures,” she said.
