Former GOP congressman Lee Zeldin used the word “retarded” to describe Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ideas on a Fox News show.
Host Greg Gutfeld reassured him, saying it was now acceptable to use the term. However, many believe the word should be considered offensive.
Zeldin was discussing Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks about Donald Trump and mentioned an anecdote about a hearing on the Keystone XL pipeline.
“You can say that now, it’s OK,” Gutfeld said. “It’s now acceptable. I met with the associations and they said yes.”
“Should the company that manufactured the microphone she’s speaking into be liable for the crap that’s coming out of her mouth right now? I was this close to going live,” Zeldin had said.
“No, it’s because the argument that you’re making everyday, all the time is just too often retarded,” Zeldin added.
