Samuel Spencer, a Milwaukee man, was found guilty of four counts of sex trafficking and using the alias “Bin Laden.”
He used drugs and false promises to lure female victims into performing commercial sex acts in multiple states.
The victims testified that Spencer controlled them with violence and threats.
U.S. Attorney Gregory Haanstad praised the victims for their courage and stated that Spencer faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, with a maximum sentence of life.
“The jury’s verdict in this case was the result of tireless work by federal, state, and local law enforcement as well as Mr. Spencer’s victims having the courage to give voice to the trauma they suffered,” Haanstad stated.
“January is Human Trafficking Awareness month, and this case serves as another example of the fact that sex trafficking and labor trafficking can happen anywhere,” he said.
