Illegal migration into the European Union surged by 17% in 2023, reaching the highest level since 2016. Frontex reported approximately 380,000 recorded border crossings, with the majority being adult males.
Syrians accounted for over a quarter of illegal crossings, followed by individuals from Guinea and Afghanistan.
The data also highlighted a significant increase in African migrants, particularly from West Africa, comprising nearly half of all illegal entries.
“The numbers presented today show the evolving challenges we face in managing the EU’s external borders,” Frontex Executive Director Hans Leijtens said.
“We remain committed to ensuring the security and integrity of the EU’s borders. It’s equally crucial to address the humanitarian aspects of migration. These figures represent not just statistics but real people.”
The Central Mediterranean route remained the most active for illegal crossings.
This surge in immigration has led to political consequences, with populist parties gaining traction across Europe, and globalist governments facing challenges in addressing the issue.
The upcoming EU Parliament elections in June are expected to be influenced by the migration issue, with globalist forces threatening anti-democratic measures to “protect” democracy.
