Former Green Bay Packers tight end Mark Chmura suggested the team should take a 15-yard penalty to intimidate the San Francisco 49ers during their playoff game.
He referenced the success of the Packers in the 1995 and 1996 playoffs as a result of intimidation.
Chmura said, “A 15-yard penalty, and I don’t condone this but I kinda do in the playoffs, a 15-yard penalty for a late hit on Brock Purdy is not a bad thing as long as it’s worth it. I’m just saying. This is the mindset you go into when its battle.”
Yikes: Former #Packers TE and current ESPN Milwaukee radio host Mark Chmura suggests that the Packers do late hits on Brock Purdy. 😬

“It’s kinda like the reverse of hockey. What don’t they do in hockey in the playoffs? … They don’t fight. This is kinda like, sometimes a 15-yard penalty is worth it or early in the game if you knock the living crap out of the guy and then he, kinda like sticking your helmet in the ribs of Nick Bosa is like, ‘Uhh, I’m hearing ghosts,’” he continued.
Chmura acknowledged the controversial nature of his suggestion but emphasized the playoff mindset.
Additionally, the 49ers are entering the game with several injured players, and Saturday’s game will mark the teams’ 10th postseason meeting, with the 49ers holding a 5-4 edge.
Mark Chmura’s comments are being debated, but he is definitely right about how intimidating Wayne Simmons was. I’ll never forget his SB XXXI entrance. Everyone else his hyped and this dude walks out like The Undertaker. His own teammates look afraid to touch him 😂 pic.twitter.com/XYZZRluaAi
