Former E.U. Parliament Brexit coordinator Guy Verhofstadt expressed concern over former President Donald Trump’s resounding victory in the Iowa Republican caucuses, calling it a threat to the democratic process.
Trump’s win in Iowa marked the largest margin of victory in the history of contested Iowa Republican caucuses.
Verhofstadt has previously voiced fears about Trump and criticized his America First diplomacy, even stating that Trump is a bigger threat to peace than Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping. (Trending: Trump Prosecutor Accused Of Playing Race Card In Public Address)
CNN calls Iowa for President Trump.
"CNN can make this projection based on his overwhelming lead in our entrance poll of Iowa caucus goers. The former president pulling off a HUGE early victory. Trump, easily defeating his top opponents Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis." pic.twitter.com/2xfRYN2MGs

Verhofstadt said, “A re-elected Trump promises to bow to Putin within 24 hours.”
Additionally, Verhofstadt condemned Trump’s stance on NATO and accused him of seeking to destroy democracy from within.
“He is as much an enemy of freedom as Putin and Xi… but fighting to destroy democracy from within!” he exclaimed.
