Dozens of avalanches in China trapped over 1,000 tourists in a remote skiing village due to heavy snow.
Rescuers evacuated the tourists and village residents, with supplies being flown in and a military helicopter airlifting the injured.

Zhao Jinsheng, the head of the highway management bureau, said, “This avalanche situation is relatively special, we have seen such heavy snowfall before, but we have not seen such high frequency of avalanches.”
The Altay prefecture, an emerging ski destination, has experienced heavy snowfall and at least 31 avalanches since early January.
