President Joe Biden has made changes to White House tours for major donors, following legal advice.
The tours are now restricted to certain areas of the residence, aimed at reassuring donors about Biden’s ability to compete against Donald Trump in 2024.

Meetings with donors have also served as feedback sessions for the president.
“It is typical for any president, regardless of party, to host supporters at the White House complex, which is both a working office as well as a personal residence,” White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates said.
“President Biden and his team take all rules concerning the White House and re-elections seriously, and we’re proud of that,” he added.
“There are certain rooms in the White House, particularly in the residence that are not covered under the Hatch Act,” ethics director Kedric Payne said.
“The president is allowed to legally meet with and entertain donors at the White House. But you cannot give campaign contributions or solicit for campaign contributions while in the White House.”
While some have expressed concerns about Biden’s age, these meetings have reassured donors about his determination and energy.
A poll showed that a majority of respondents viewed Biden as too old for another term, but a smaller majority felt the same about Trump.
