Carmelo Anthony expressed discontent with the Denver Nuggets for giving his former jersey number, 15, to Nikola Jokic.
He viewed the decision as an attempt to erase his legacy and suggested that Jokic could have worn the number to pay homage.
Anthony, who retired last summer, has been a prolific scorer, but most of his accolades came after he was traded to the New York Knicks. (Trending: GOP Rep. Mace Clashes Directly With Hunter Biden At Hearing)
Jokic, on the other hand, has achieved significant success with the Nuggets, including two MVP titles and an NBA championship.
“It was a petty maneuver. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, we got numbers to choose from.’ It was like, ‘Here, you got 15.’ And y’all put Jokic in the middle of that. He don’t know what the f— going on,” Anthony said.
“He could’ve been like, ‘I want to wear 15,’ or ’15 is here, I want to wear 15. Oh, that’s Melo’s number.’ You know what I mean?”
"It was a petty maneuver. It wasn't like, 'Oh, we got numbers to choose from.' It was like, 'Here, you got 15.' … What I believe is that [the Nuggets] gave him 15 to try to erase what I did."

“Like just pay homage. I don’t know. He could’ve worn it because he wanted to pay homage.”
“But what I believe is that they gave him 15 to try to erase what I did. I used to think about it. I don’t think about this s— no more, though. Because what’s meant to be is meant to be.”
Despite his dissatisfaction, Anthony doesn’t seem to seek anything from the Nuggets at this point.
