Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered a more intense campaign against corruption within the Communist Party, describing the situation as “grave and complex.”

He has revitalized the Central Commission of Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and expanded its mandate to identify and punish officials accused of corruption, abuse of power, and failing to uphold “family virtues.”

Xi’s efforts to combat corruption have resulted in thousands of officials being purged, and the CCDI processed 470,000 anti-corruption cases in the first nine months of 2023. (Trending: Fox News Star Accused Of Major Scandal)

President Xi reportedly said, “To address both the symptoms and root causes of corruption, we will advance national anti-corruption legislation and promote a culture of integrity in the new era.”

“There is no possibility of stopping, slackening or compromising the anti-corruption campaign,” Xi reportedly continued.

“The deterioration of family virtues often becomes a significant factor leading to serious disciplinary and legal violations among officials,” Xi reportedly claimed.

According to the state-run Global Times, “Among them, 65,000 were township- and section-level officials, 46,000 incumbent or former Party chiefs of villages or heads of villagers’ committees.”

“Of the 405,000 individuals who were punished for misconduct, 54,000 were township- and section-level officials,” continued the outlet.

Despite Xi’s emphasis on the success of the anti-corruption campaign, his recent remarks acknowledging the ongoing threat of corruption within the Party appear to contradict his earlier claims of overwhelming victory.
