The co-owner of a popular bagel shop in Washington, Jacob A. Carter, was tragically shot and killed while on vacation in New Orleans.

Carter, along with his husband, had founded the Howdy Bagel café in Tacoma after losing their jobs during the global economic shutdown.

The community has mourned his loss, describing him as a kind and caring individual. (Trending: Fox News Star Accused Of Major Scandal)

Carter said in 2022, “I always wanted to do something in hospitality, and I particularly loved baking.”

“If you knew Jake, you know he was someone who exuded kindness, warmth, and genuine care to everyone he met,” posted Howdy Bagel.

“Jake was one of the brightest spots in the lives of everyone he loved. This loss is immeasurable for our community,” their statement continued.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the staff and meet financial obligations of Howdy Bagel, surpassing its initial goal.

The incident has raised concerns, as it is one of five murders in New Orleans this year.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
