Former House Speaker and Rep. Kevin McCarthy has announced that he will be serving on jury duty after leaving Congress.

This comes just days after his resignation and amidst speculation about his next steps.

Despite being exempt from jury duty as an elected official, McCarthy accepted the summons from the Kern County courts.

McCarthy wrote, “There’s been a lot of speculation about what I’m going to do next. I’m ready to end the rumors. I’m on jury duty!” he continued.

His abrupt resignation followed internal party turmoil, and although his future plans remain undisclosed, many anticipate his continued involvement in politics from the private sector.
