Edison, New Jersey Mayor Sam Joshi turned away a bus of migrants due to concerns about security and health risks, stating that local police couldn’t identify the individuals or determine if they were carrying weapons.
He plans to send migrants back to the border and emphasized that he doesn’t want to transfer the issue to other mayors.

Mayor Joshi said, the authorities “did not know if any of those 40 individuals were carrying weapons, they couldn’t be identified.”
Joshi noted that it was “a major security risk. It’s a health risk. And we’re just not going to tolerate that.”
Toni Yates reported, “The town of Edison, however, has its own answer: A charter bus to send migrants back to the southern border. The bus that arrived the other night was simply ordered to leave.”
“The solution for me, as the Mayor of Edison, is not to pawn it off to another mayor,” concluded Joshi.
