A 13-year-old gamer, BlueScuti, recently achieved a significant milestone in Tetris by reaching the game’s “kill screen” on the NES version, a feat never accomplished since the game’s launch in 1989.
This involved surpassing 1,511 lines in a 40-minute session, pushing the game beyond its functional limits.
The achievement is notable as traditional control methods became ineffective at this stage, and players had to develop new strategies to progress.

Ars Technica reported that “for over three decades, the standard NES Tetris game, released in 1989, ended with a block reaching the top of the screen, signaling a game over.”
BlueScuti’s accomplishment is particularly remarkable given the recent loss of his father.
