A Chicago man, Juvenal Coronel, gained attention for being arrested multiple times following the introduction of the cashless bail system in Illinois.
Despite repeated arrests, he was consistently released.

“Coronel was arrested five times within the first month of cashless bail’s debut on September 18. He kept getting out,” the report stated.
“Prosecutors asked Judge Kelly McCarthy to keep Coronel in custody yesterday because he keeps committing new crimes. She said no. When we checked yesterday evening, he had not been arrested again,” CWB Chicago wrote.
The cashless bail system, implemented under the SAFE-T Act, has sparked controversy, with instances of suspects deemed dangerous being released after their court dates.
Additionally, a study revealed that over 70% of criminal suspects released without bail were rearrested for further alleged crimes.
