Chairman James Comer and Chairman Jim Jordan have launched an investigation into President Joe Biden regarding allegations that he may have obstructed his son Hunter Biden’s cooperation with the House’s impeachment inquiry.
This stems from an official statement from the White House indicating that President Biden was aware in advance of Hunter’s plan to defy congressional subpoenas.
The investigation aims to determine whether the President engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct Congress and whether his actions could constitute an impeachable offense. (Trending: Democrat Targets U.S. Troops With New Gun Control Law)
The House Committees have issued subpoenas to Hunter Biden, and there are calls for all documents and communications regarding his deposition.
“In light of an official statement from the White House that President Biden was aware in advance that his son, Hunter Biden, would knowingly defy two congressional subpoenas, we are compelled to examine as part of our impeachment inquiry whether the President engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding of Congress,” an official statement from the White House read.
“For six years, MAGA Republicans… have impugned my character, invaded my privacy, attacked my wife, my children, my family, and my friends,” Hunter said.
“They have ridiculed my struggle with addiction, they have belittled my recovery, and they have tried to dehumanize all to embarrass and damage my father.”
“I have been the target of the unrelenting Trump attack machine shouting, ‘Where’s Hunter?’ Well here’s my answer: I am here.”
“We expect to depose the president’s son and then we’ll be more than happy to have a public hearing,” Comer said.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre admitted that Biden was “certainly familiar with what his son was going to say.”
“The Committees have accumulated substantial evidence that Hunter Biden’s business endeavors have improperly included his father, and the President has made false claims about his knowledge and involvement in these schemes,” Comer and Jordan wrote.
“In light of this evidence, the fact that the President had advanced awareness that Mr. Biden would defy the Committees’ subpoenas raises a troubling new question that we must examine: whether the President corruptly sought to influence or obstruct the Committees’ proceeding by preventing, discouraging, or dissuading his son from complying with the Committees’ subpoenas. Such conduct could constitute an impeachable offense.”
