China’s defense ministry criticized the United States for its alleged interference in the Asia Pacific region, accusing it of maintaining a “Cold War” mindset and aiming to maintain hegemony.
Despite recent talks between top military officials from both countries, China remains skeptical and has urged the U.S. to take concrete actions to promote a stable military relationship.
“The United States continues to strengthen its Asia-Pacific deployments, this is full of a Cold War mindset,” spokesperson Wu Qian said. (Trending: Democrat Targets U.S. Troops With New Gun Control Law)
“Its goal is for its own selfish gains and to maintain its hegemony. Its nature is to stoke confrontation.”
Additionally, China warned against U.S. interference in Taiwan affairs and accused the U.S. of escalating tensions in the South China Sea.
“We firmly oppose any country having official and military contact with Taiwan in any form. The U.S. is manipulating the Taiwan question in various forms, which is a very dangerous gamble,” Wu said.
“We urge the U.S. to stop arming Taiwan under any excuses or by any means,” he added.
The ministry declined to comment on the removal of executives from leading aerospace defense firms, amid an anti-corruption purge in the People’s Liberation Army.
