Russia fires 122 missiles and 36 drones in massive aerial barrage

Russia launched a major aerial attack on Ukrainian targets, firing 122 missiles and numerous drones, resulting in at least 30 civilian deaths and over 144 wounded.

The assault, described as the largest of the war, caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure across the country.

Kateryna Ivanivna said, “There was an explosion, then flames. I covered my head and got down in the street. Then I ran into the subway station,” she continued.

President Joe Biden said, “but unless Congress takes urgent action in the new year, we will not be able to continue sending the weapons and vital air defense systems Ukraine needs to protect its people. Congress must step up and act.”

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, wrote on X, “These widespread attacks on Ukraine’s cities show Putin will stop at nothing to achieve his aim of eradicating freedom and democracy.”

“We must continue to stand with Ukraine — for as long as it takes,” he continued.

The ongoing conflict has led to increased calls for additional air defenses and aid.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, wrote, “Today, millions of Ukrainians awoke to the loud sound of explosions.”

“I wish those sounds of explosions in Ukraine could be heard all around the world. In all major capitals, headquarters, and parliaments, which are currently debating further support for Ukraine,” continued his post.
