A mental health counselor, Jodi Hildebrandt, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse for physically and emotionally abusing parenting advice blogger Ruby Franke’s children.
The abuse was discovered when Franke’s 12-year-old son escaped and sought help from a neighbor.

Hildebrandt admitted to inflicting serious physical injuries on two young children and coercing Franke’s daughter to jump into a cactus and run barefoot on dirt roads.
Hildebrandt’s attorney, Douglas Terry, said, “She takes responsibility, and it is her main concern at this point that these children can heal, both physically and emotionally.”
Franke admitted to forcing her son into physical labor and other abusive acts.
The children were eventually placed in state custody.
The case has drawn attention due to the Franke family’s public profile and previous criticism of their parenting practices.
