Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has requested records from a Seattle hospital regarding gender-affirming treatment given to Texas children, sparking a legal battle.

The hospital filed a lawsuit asserting that Paxton’s actions exceed his jurisdiction and represent an unconstitutional attempt to interfere with interstate commerce.

This request is part of a broader effort in Texas, which has enacted laws restricting gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors. (Trending: Democrat Found Guilty In Corruption Trial)

According to the lawsuit, “Additionally, the Demands represent an unconstitutional attempt to investigate and chill potential interstate commerce and travel for Texas residents to another state.”

Ashley Speller, a spokesperson for Seattle Children’s Hospital, wrote that the hospital intends “to protect private patient information related to gender-affirming care services at our organization.”

Paxton’s office previously investigated Dell Children’s Hospital in Texas “to determine whether any state laws have been violated or misrepresentations have been made to parents and patients.”

The hospital aims to protect patient information and uphold Washington state laws safeguarding minors seeking gender-affirming care.

Paxton’s office has also sought information from other Texas hospitals, reflecting a broader conservative movement targeting transgender rights.
