In November, there were a record 242,418 enforcement encounters at the southern border, marking a significant increase from previous years.
The release of these numbers just before Christmas has sparked outrage, with calls for accountability and even impeachment proceedings against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The surge in illegal immigration under the Biden administration has led to over 7 million encounters at the southwest border since fiscal year 2021, as well as a quadrupling of illegal immigrant gotaways compared to the previous administration. (Trending: Could Taylor Swift Save Biden In 2024?)

Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee Mark Green said, “By strategically holding the release of these numbers until the Friday before Christmas, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is unabashedly showing the full measure of his duplicity.”
“These numbers are so bad, he wants as few Americans to see them as possible,” he continued.
“This cowardly quest to evade accountability is further reason why my committee is initiating impeachment proceedings against Secretary Mayorkas early in the new year,” added Green.
Public opinion surveys indicate widespread disapproval of Biden’s handling of the border, with 62% of respondents expressing disapproval.
