Democratic strategist Antjuan Seawright criticized former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for not acknowledging slavery as the cause of the Civil War, attributing it to her alignment with “Trumpism” and the modern-day Republican Party.
Haley’s response during a town hall event in New Hampshire focused on the war’s impact on government and freedoms, leading Seawright to accuse her of whitewashing history and pandering to extremism.
“There is no doubt she is peddling and playing footsie to extremism or Trumpism, [which] has now taken over the modern-day Republican Party,” Seawright said. (Trending: Trump Releases Must-See TV Ad Ahead of 2024)
“For everyone watching at home, this is what happens when you want to whitewash history, ban books and not tell the full story of history … Nikki Haley is not new to this behavior, she’s true to this behavior.”
“When she was a candidate in 2010, she indicated that the confederate battle flag was not about hate, it was about heritage.”
“I think this is more about who the modern-day Republican Party is and the effort to embrace Trumpism,” he added.
Haley later clarified her statement, emphasizing the war’s contemporary significance.
Currently, she is polling at 24.8 percent support in New Hampshire, trailing behind Donald Trump.
