The Maryland Bar Counsel has filed a petition to suspend former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby’s law license due to alleged misuse of her finances during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mosby, known for prosecuting Baltimore police officers after Freddie Gray’s death, faces perjury charges and was found guilty of withdrawing $90,000 from Baltimore city’s deferred compensation plan and using it for personal real estate purchases, despite claiming financial hardship.
The petition requests her immediate suspension from practicing law.
The Maryland Bar Counsel demanded that Marilyn Mosby, “be suspended immediately from the practice of law pending the imposition of sentence and entry of a judgment of conviction,” in their petition.
Jury selection for her trial is set to begin on January 18, 2024.
