Donald Trump, a leading figure in Republican polls, incorrectly stated that a U.S. soldier had died, exaggerating the injuries from an attack in northern Iraq.

The attack left one soldier critically injured and two others wounded, prompting retaliatory airstrikes by the United States against an Iran-backed armed group.

“Last night, a young soldier was killed, U.S., and the two were very, very badly hurt and nobody even talks about it,” Trump said. (Trending: Founding Dixie Chick Member Dies Unexpectedly)

“It’s not even believable.”

Trump’s misrepresentation of the situation aligns with a pattern of embellishing U.S. military casualties, contrasting his record with that of President Biden.

The Biden administration has responded with airstrikes to hold accountable those responsible for attacks on coalition forces in Iraq and Syria.

“These strikes are intended to hold accountable those elements directly responsible for attacks on coalition forces in Iraq and Syria and degrade their ability to continue attacks,” Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla, chief of Central Command stated.

Trump’s claims about the attacks going unanswered are false, as the administration has stated its intention to respond at an appropriate time while managing regional tensions.

“We don’t even do anything about it,” Trump said.
