Spanx, a women’s clothing brand, is using a humanoid robot named “Digit” in its Georgia warehouse.
Built by GXO Logistics, Digit is designed to work in human spaces and perform repetitive tasks, such as moving totes and placing boxes on conveyor belts.
Standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall and capable of lifting 35 pounds, Digit aims to reduce strain for warehouse employees and complete simple duties, allowing human workers to focus on more advanced tasks. (Trending: Trump Releases Must-See Christmas Message)
GXO reports that Digit has improved employee satisfaction and job efficiency, and is cheaper to run than employing another person.
If the pilot phase continues to be successful, Digit could have an expanded role in the coming year.
