Baruch Roche II, a Florida man, attempted to enter MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa by claiming to be “Captain America” and stating he had a meeting with a U.S. Special Operations Command general.

He was charged with attempted possession of a firearm in a federal facility after being found with an AR-15 assault rifle and ammunition in his car.

Roche, who was retired from the Air Force, was arrested after becoming argumentative with security personnel. (Trending: Prominent LGBTQ Activist Arrested Over Disturbing Charges)

“Rouche approached the military installation in a Hyundai Genesis just before 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 3,” the Justice Department said Tuesday.

“After refusing to provide identification to security personnel, he said he was the beloved Marvel superhero character and that he was a member of SOCCOM,” prosecutors said in a criminal complaint.

He was later involuntarily hospitalized due to extreme paranoia, psychosis, and threats to harm USAF security personnel.
