Former Super Bowl winner Derrick Ward, 43, has been arrested on robbery charges for allegedly robbing several businesses, including gas stations, without using a gun but employing “force and fear” to extort money.

This comes as a surprise to those familiar with his football career, which included a Super Bowl win with the New York Giants in 2007.

Ward, who missed the game due to injury, expressed his disappointment at the time. (Trending: Prominent LGBTQ Activist Arrested Over Disturbing Charges)

“One of the hardest experiences I’ve ever been through,” Ward said.

“Being able to finally do something in the league and help contribute to the season we had and that not be able to play in the Super Bowl, I always dreamed about that when I was a little kid.”

“I was just excited my teammates got me a Super Bowl ring,” he added.

With an eight-year football career, including stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans, he was once signed to a lucrative four-year contract.

Ward was booked on Monday and is currently in police custody with bail set at $250,000.
