Almost half of Buick dealers in the US have chosen buyouts from General Motors instead of investing in the sale and service of Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The decision reduces the number of Buick dealerships to about 1,000 nationwide as GM aligns with President Biden’s green energy agenda.
The buyout allows dealers to continue selling other GM models. The move reflects concerns among US car dealers about the demand for EVs and the potential impact of current regulations. (Trending: Judge Announces Historic Ruling In Jeffrey Epstein Case)
“The reality, however, is that electric vehicle demand today is not keeping up with the large influx of [EVs] arriving at our dealerships prompted by the current regulations. [EVs] are stacking up on our lots,” a group of U.S. car dealers wrote.
Additionally, a Consumer Reports survey indicates that EVs cause nearly 80% more problems for owners than traditional gas-powered cars.
