Law professor Jonathan Turley criticized the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify Donald Trump from the state’s presidential ballot based on the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment.
Turley argued that the decision sets a dangerous precedent and lacks a limiting principle, potentially allowing for the removal of candidates for various reasons.
He highlighted the broad and sweeping interpretations used by the court and expressed concerns about the anti-democratic implications. (Trending: Judge Announces Historic Ruling In Jeffrey Epstein Case)

The Colorado Republican Party threatened to cancel the state’s primary, and Trump responded by criticizing the legal actions against him.
“They’re doing all this stuff to basically solidify support in the primary for him, get him into the general, and the whole general election’s going to be all this legal stuff,” DeSantis said.
“One thing is clear: this will help Donald Trump. Do these Colorado clowns in black robes not realize that?” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said.
“It’s self-evident. You saw it all,” Biden said.
“Now whether the 14th Amendment applies, I’ll let the court make that decision. But he certainly supported an insurrection.”
“There’s no question about it. None. Zero. And he seems to be doubling down on it.”
