Tunisian Migrant Arrested in New York For Allegedly Trying to Buy Child

Monji Jelassi, a 62-year-old Tunisian migrant was arrested in New York for allegedly attempting to purchase a five-year-old child from her mother.

The man was found to be illegally present in the United States after overstaying his visa.

He was detained by the Perry Village Police Department and is being held at the Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York, awaiting a deportation hearing. (Trending: Joe Biden Impeachment Formalized As Republicans Unite)

The arrest was made by Buffalo Sector Border Patrol agents, and the migrant is facing charges under Sections 212 and 237 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Patrol Agent in Charge David Banks said, “Removing this individual is a matter of public safety and aligns with the interests of our law enforcement partners to remove predators and other dangerous people from our communities.”

Jelassi was reportedly charged under Sections 212 and 237 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
